Who at some time has not thought about writing a romantic love poem to their sweetheart?

If we are honest most of us have sat down and tried to write a love poem to the girl or boy they knew.  For some us that may have been a scrap of paper torn from a school writing book about the boy or girl next door.

Many of you will have given up the idea when they did not appear to be as good the ones we saw in our text books.  Or it may have been when that romantic love poem did not have the effect we wanted it to have on that special person we longed to get to know better.  Even worse — in my case anyhow  — that romantic poem that told of my love as I felt the words of love and effection was coming from my heart fell into the wrong hands.   I thought that guy was a real hunk and I just dreamed of being able to be close to him but he started passing around that love poem I had written to everyone in the class so I became the laughing stock of the school. 

I must admit it probably was not very good but after that particular experience it was many years later before I was able to write another love poem and I kept that one to myself — nobody ever saw it.   Although I did read other romantic love poems I had written to my teddy bear I never got much feedback from him — he just continued to smile back with no change of expression on his face.  He did however give me lots of love and attention with his hugs.

Over the years I have however read a number of of famous love poems by published poets and have always wanted to learn to have the confidence to show the love poems I have written to others. But not yet!  I am not yet at that stage although i aim to be and will continue refining my skills at expressing myself on paper.  I have a couple of friends who have taken writing classes and have published their work (one even won a national prize for her love poetry submissions) and they are helping me to write my own love poems.  The support and encouragement thay have given me is just phenominal and I know that I will be able to add one of my own poems to this site before long. (To be honest however I will probably not put my own name on the poems until I have seen public reaction)

This website Love Poems Central has been gathering together a large number of the classic love poems written during the ages but we are also adding a range of more comtemporary love poems as well. 

We are looking for your contributions to this love poetry site.

Please submit your own love poems so we can put them on this website and share them with the world.  Just email me carol at love poems central.com (you will of course need to replace the word at with @ and remove the spaces before sending) telling me something about yourself and why you wrote the poem.   Please attach your romantic love poem to the email as a word document as putting the poem into the main body of your email could mess up your formatting and I will not know where the lines should break.
